Jeffrey Yoshida, M.D. is the program director of urologic oncology at Hoag Family Cancer Institute at Hoag Hospital in Newport Beach, California. As program director, Dr. Yoshida plays a key role in the growth of site-specific programs for urologic malignancies, which include prostate, kidney, bladder and testicular cancers. Dr. Yoshida is an expert in robotic prostatectomy having performed over 1,500 surgeries to date. He also has extensive experience in robotic-assisted radical nephrectomy (kidney removal) and partial nephrectomy.

Dr. Yoshida’s primary focus is to lead the development of a comprehensive, multidisciplinary prostate cancer program. He chairs the multidisciplinary prostate/urologic oncology case conferences that are held twice a month at Hoag Cancer Institute. With his knowledge and experience in robotic surgery, Dr. Yoshida expands Hoag Hospital’s capabilities in minimally invasive robotic surgery.

Dr. Yoshida is board-certified in urology and has practiced as a urologic oncologist since 2004. He received his undergraduate degree in biology from Pacific Union College and earned his medical degree from Loma Linda University. He completed an internship in general surgery at Harbor-UCLA and a residency in urology at Loma Linda University. Dr. Yoshida then completed a fellowship in urologic oncology/robotic surgery at City of Hope Medical Center, a National Cancer Institute-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center in Duarte, California. While at Ciy of Hope, he served as assistant clinical professor in the department of urologic oncology and also held a surgical leadership role in the kidney cancer program.
